The IMBA hosted it's 2nd ever Season Launch event yesterday, May 12th at the Innisfil Recreation Complex Diamonds.
It literally could not have been a better day. The weather was absolutely perfect to host all of our members for the day to kick-off the 2018 season in style.
The day featured our house league uniform distribution which allowed our parents and players the opportunity to pick up their great uniforms provided by Centretown Sports - our official Uniform and Equipment supplier, as well as the chance to meet their coaches and teammates!
From there our Cardinals players gathered on the North Diamond for the opening ceremonies! Which included our very own Nicole Bhatia-Fellman singing our National Anthem.
Afterwords, the league had a moment of silence to honour one of our own coaches - Frank Colbeck who recently passed away. It was a special moment for the league, and especially the Bantam Select team who was selected to play in this game.
Bantam Select Team with our Special Guests
We were very fortunate and honoured to have Innisfil Mayor Gord Wauchope, Deputy Mayor Lynn Dollin and MP John Brassard on-hand to throw our the ceremonial first pitches for the game (pretty good job done by both gentlmen!)
The day was filled with alot of great exhibition games featuring our Rookie Select, Minor and Major Midget Rep, Bantam Select, Major Bantam Rep as well as our Bantam and Peewee House League teams. Thanks to all our teams and players for participating!
We'd like to thank our amazing LOCAL Food trucks who were on-site and provided some stellar refreshments for our parents and players. Special thanks to:
Flaming Kravings
Miss Richies Kitchen
Mirene’s Chip Truck
If you see them around - visit them again! They were great!
A very special thanks to Lesley Beaton from sourcing, and getting the food vendors on-site - it was far more work then you would think - so a big thank you to Lesley!
Lastly, we closed off our day with our popular Coach vs Coach game! The Blue Jays faced off against the Red Sox in a tight and competitive game that saw the Blue Jays down the Red Sox 6-3. Alot of fun was had by all, and other than a few nicks everyone walked out unscathed! Thanks to all our coaches who participated!
Thanks to everyone who came to our Season Launch Event and especially to all the folks on our board who made this day happen!
